It was a truly pleasure meeting Melissa and her small gang of sweet girls. This session was so effortless and relaxed. Hardly any posing went on and the photos turned out to be perfectly imperfect. Nothing beats a true candid!
This mini session was fifteen minutes long and within that small time frame, I was able to capture some sweet memories to last this Mama a lifetime. Enjoy!

I'd like to start with this bit of information - this session only took us fifteen minutes. Yes, you read that right! It's amazing what you can capture when everyone lets go and lets kids be kids! It's something I'm trying to explain to parents and implement more into my family and kiddo sessions. Some of these images are the result of playing peek-a-boo or the Baby Shark song (sorry if that's stick in your head the rest of the day now) - simple and fun ideas such as those are gold! I love how Maelee's sweet little personality shines through each image. She was a gem to photograph!
I've been itching to do a greenhouse session for a while now and I'm glad I went for it! Maelee's mom is an acquaintance through my sister and other friends and when I saw how adorable and photogenic Maelee was, I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to reach out to her mom. I'm so thankful that everything worked out and that we had a successful and memorable session in such a pretty and unique location! If you've visited this venue before, you probably know where our fun had taken place. If not, let me introduce you to Klein's Floral & Greenhouse. The staff was so wonderful and informative to work with while setting this up! I hope to do more sessions in this kind, lovely and WARM venue in the future. If you're interested in a greenhouse session, please contact Ammie Jean Photography. I'd love to chat with you! These images make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...I'm obsessed with them! It always makes me giddy when when I have the chance to work with a good friend and their family. Catching up, goofing around and enjoying the time spent together does not feel like work at all to me. Ji and her husband, Aaron, decided to sign up for my very last minute pop-up Holiday Mini. I'm glad they did because, due to my slack, their family happened to be my only session! Lucky for the Stelzl family though as I was able to spend a few extra minutes with them and, on top of that, I could not limit my editing so they received lots of extras! If I have extras, I always share some!!
Scroll through their delightful images and feel free to leave a happy comment as well! Enjoy! I had great time catching up with the Woodburn trio and capturing some fun memories for them. This session was taken late September on a gloomy evening and the mosquitoes were horrible! They were such troopers with the weather, gray sky and the pests...and it was so worth it! I love how these images turned out and the true love that is now frozen in time for them to hang in their home and admire for years to come. Such simple gratification makes what I do so special. Enjoy! Love what you see? Leave a comment below!
This family is so amazing! I've known them since Brielle was a baby and I've been photographing the Goodchilds since her one year portraits. Wow, has this family and my business grown! I think it's pretty special we've been able to share several milestones together and watch one another branch out over the years. Not only is this family super sweet, but they are truly fashionable as well. I love when my families show up to session dressed as if they stepped out of a magazine! The sunshine, green grass, vibrant colors and this good lookin' gang made for some stunning family portraits. I'm excited to share this mix of relaxed poses and lifestyle shots with you! Like what you see? Leave some kind words in the comment section below! <3 All because two people fell in love! Session Date: Mid May | Session Time: Evening | Location: DeForest, WI
I'm so excited to share this beautiful in-home lifestyle session with you! Lifestyle sessions have become some of my favorites as they are always fun and laid back. The goal for this lifestyle was to capture sweet Salomea's newborn portraits with a mix of life within her first few days. Mom (Jess), Dad (Pat) and fur sister (Olive) were so gracious when welcoming me into their lovely home. This session was taken during the morning hours using only natural light. Due to the nature of this session, I was able to capture multiple looks, photos, moments and poses resulting in an abundance of edits. Every newborn session varies as all babies are different and wonderful in their unique ways. We kicked things off with some snuggle and artsy images on Mom and Dad's bed. Incorporated was a quilt made with love by Pat's mother. If you know me at all, you know that I'm sentimental and adding special pieces like this into any session is always a yes in my books! After capturing some darling photos in Jess and Pat's bedroom we moved onto Sal's bedroom. Her room was decorated simply and sweetly with the perfect girly touch. I was sure to catch the dainty details between crib portraits and a quick diaper change. Sal's room had just the right amount of natural light, especially by her corner windows where we took mom and dad's individuals with their beautiful bundle. Following bedroom captures, we headed downstairs and just in time for Sal's next feeding! This gave me the opportunity to take some snaps of natural interactions between the three of them. When Sal's belly was full we moved onto some photos with big sister, Olive. This fur sister seemed pretty proud of her new role in life! The next portion of this lifestyle session was switched up just a tad. I decided to try and incorporate a few prop photos since we had a very sleepy and full baby! I brought a few things with me, used their dining room floor as a backdrop and sliding doors as my light source. I was overly happy with how her close ups turned out! There are even a few smiles mixed in!! :) I kept things neutral while playing into the fact that Sal was a winter baby being born Christmas Eve. I added my fluffy vintage bonnet and handmade snowflake headband in and they made perfect headpieces! The rest of the session consisted of more family photos on the couch, this time including Olive, and few quick portraits on Sal's airplane blanket which was also made by Pat's mother. Pat is a pilot so incorporating this airplane blanket was another must as I also like to include family occupations or hobbies into sessions when I can. I hope you enjoy the following images as much as I do! Don't worry! Mom and dad spotted every image that was taken with Olive. Olive is a very well mannered and calm dog at her older age, but you can never be too careful when it comes to a newborn's safety. If you thought this lifestyle session was beautiful, leave me a note in the blog comments! <3
I had the pleasure of working with Ryder and his awesome parents again to capture his 3 month portraits. What a splendid way to kick off 2018! We bundled up and started with some quick family photos outside, literally less than 2 minutes outside, followed by some lifestyle shots on my couch. Outdoor family shots are possible in January. After all, we are Wisconsin tough! The next portion of Ryder's session was all about him! Mom and dad wanted to incorporate the bowl we used for his newborn photos and I thought using Dad's antlers again would be neat too! What a creative way to show how much Ryder has grown since his newborn portraits. We also used our creativity and played with Ryder's layers of clothing to mix things up and create different looks within an hours time. I absolutely love how these sweet images turned out and I can't wait to work with this trio again! Enjoy! Be a "deer" and share a sweet love note in the comment section! They always make me smile! :D
Wow...the last few weeks have been crazy busy for me and I'm feeling extra blessed because of that. Now with things winding down a bit, but not for long, I'm finally getting around to blogging this gorgeous session and sharing official sneaks with you all for the first time! You may or may not remember the one photo that was shared on my Facebook page of the playful blanket toss. Either way, it was a favorite! If you do remember it and loved it, you may want to brace yourself for more lifestyle beauties! This was a session like no other! Instead of concentrating on well posed images, we focused on playful, fun, loving and candid ones instead. I'm in awe of this gallery and proud of my work. This session was done in mid October on a sunny evening about an hour and half before sunset. I really wanted that golden light and the sun low enough that we could play in an open field. It was a vision come true! Moving forward in 2018, I'd love to more sessions like this one! I love me a good lifestyle. :) Mama, Kari, did a fantastic job picking out outfits for her family - per usual. With a little help from the sweet Old Navy clerk, she put together a style that was vibrant and coordinated perfectly with the fall colors. Notice how the yellow and blue were colors pulled straight from the girls' leggings and dresses. This ensemble was executed to the finest degree! I'm so giddy about these images and I hope you love them too! <3 That's a wrap! If you love the Jones gallery and this style of session, leave some kind words in the blog comments! <3
I'm in love with so many things about this fall family session. The light, the early October weather, this family, the giggles, those fall colors and the outfit coordination. They were all spot on! I was so happy to capture this family again. It's been far too long!
We met at my favorite area of the DeForest bike path for a thirty minute session. As mentioned in previous blogs, it's my little gem of a location. We took advantage of the tall grass, trees and bridge as I worked my "magic." I tried a few different techniques and pushed my creativity a bit. I need to remind myself to do this more often! I'm so pleased with how this gallery turned out and for trying something out of my comfort zone. It truly paid off. I hope that the awesome Matol family treasures these images for years to come! This laid back, fun loving and sweet bunch is always a joy to work with and I love catching up with them! :) **If you adore these images just as much as I do, leave me a blog comment!** There are some galleries that I have a hard time limiting my edits. This would be one of those galleries. I always give extra edited images to my clients but sometimes I really over due myself. It all depends on the flow of the session. In this case Adelyn was a hoot and a half, so full of energy and multiple expressions! How could I not share her captured personalty with her family?!
I've known Adelyn and her parents since she was about three months old. She used to also attend the in-home childcare center I worked at for seven and half years. I'm so happy that I've stayed in touch with her mom over time. Adelyn and her best friend make a point to trick-or-trick at my house (well mostly their parents make a point but still) and I'll catch them at a get together every once in awhile. It's so nice to have their support AND friendship. This session was taken at Token Creek Park. Again, one of my favorite local locations. We were blessed with warm weather on this early October day and LOTS of sunshine peeking through the greens. I can't say it enough - THIS is my light of choice. I never realized how important light was until I pursued my dream of being a family photographer. We were also blessed with a little fall color mixed with some greenery still. Since this family is like "VIP" to me, I was willing to forego my two outfit rule for a sixty minute session. So, we went with four different looks just for Addy and squeezed them all in one hour. This wasn't a big deal and didn't eat up much time since it was just one individual changing. Mom and dad kept it simple with just one outfit giving us maximum shoot time which equaled more images! Efficiency at it's finest! This session was geared more towards Adelyn with a few family portraits so it worked out perfectly. I kept the props simple using my chalk board with the number "5" on it (Addy recently celebrated her fifth birthday and, yes, I enjoy free-hand chalk design.), a crate decked out with my lace doily, some silk floral, my brown fur, a banner and few contrasting blankets. Mom had the great idea of incorporating a pumpkin into a few photos towards the end of her session which turned out to be so adorable. I hope you dig this segment of Adelyn's gallery and don't forget to leave a sweet note at the end of the blog! :) |
