It's always an honor to be chosen to photograph families - especially the start of families. These two welcomed their first child and sweet baby girl into the world the beginning of February. To say this family was thrilled for her arrival is an understatement! Avery is the first grandchild and niece for the family and everyone was so ready to hold and spoil her. I love being a tiny part of the excitement. Avery was a doll to photograph and her parents were pleased to see that she slept well. I've found that prepping yourself and your baby (thanks to my newborn prep guide) makes a HUGE difference! We were able to sneak in family portraits, a few different prop poses and blanket posing as well. She even graced us with some beautiful open eyed images too! Every baby is so different and I love being able to work with so many. If you enjoyed this post, show us some love in the comments below!

I'm sure you've seen this family, especially the two little loves, on my blog, throughout my website and social media platforms. They are some of my favorite clients to work with. So laid back, understanding and flexible. It also helps they are beyond kind and fun to be around.
Their most recent session took place at Indian Lake. I'm sure those houses look familiar to some. It was a beautiful November evening (weather was VERY tolerable for this time of the year), the sky was covered with clouds and, combined with the location, it was the perfect setting. We kept the kiddos warm and snug in coordinating hats and blankets. I love buffalo plaid this time of year and how it added a bright POP of color against the tan colored grass. We worked quickly to get the shots we needed along with some playful ones too. I just love when everything falls into place and I'm excited to share the magic with all of you. Enjoy! Meet sweet, little Alanna. At just ten days old, Alanna was a dream to work with. Her mama scheduled a Simple Newborn Session which takes place within an hour's time regardless if the baby sleep or awake. However, prepping your baby for their session makes a difference and all the prep paid off with this beauty. Alanna slept like an angel and we were able to do three quick set ups with her. Bonus - I was also able to catch some adorable smirks too. They are my absolute favorite!
Enjoy! It was a truly pleasure meeting Melissa and her small gang of sweet girls. This session was so effortless and relaxed. Hardly any posing went on and the photos turned out to be perfectly imperfect. Nothing beats a true candid!
This mini session was fifteen minutes long and within that small time frame, I was able to capture some sweet memories to last this Mama a lifetime. Enjoy! Our sweet and spunky little Isla turned ONE on April 18th! We celebrated the day with treats, gifts, extra snuggles...AND a one year cake smash, of course! What kind of photog mom would I be if I didn't? Dog/human friendly cake was made by yours truly via a recipe I found online. It was tasty and Isla enjoyed it in moderation. The number one on top of her cake was also used in her last sister's tenth birthday taco smash session and we thought that was pretty special and nostalgic. I may sound like a broken record, but I always try to incorporate sentimental pieces into any of my sessions and highly encourage my clients to do the same. Therefore, I also included my Grandma Nonn's hanker-chief from her childhood as April 18th is also her birthday! That's where Isla's middle name (Alice) comes from. Two very special ladies! Another interesting fact about Isla's name is that it is pronounced as "Ees-lah" or as we personally pronounce it, "Iss-lah." It means island in Spanish and we say she is our little bit of paradise. We also call her Izzie for fun (she responds to either name) and most others do so as well. Her nickname ends in an "ie" the same way my name does - I just had to make it difficult. ;) A lot of thought was put into her name so the pronunciation of it is very intentional. One more first birthday shout out to our ONE-derful little Izzie. She has added so much love and happiness to our hearts and home. Life is so much better with her in it and for that we are grateful. Feeling truly blessed she is ours. Enjoy! [This was my first time constructing a balloon garland and it was not the easiest until I got the hang of it. Thank goodness it turned out pretty good! These will be available to add onto any indoor milestone session at an additional cost. Contact AJP for details.] Our little W1LD ONE. <3 If you enjoyed these photos, make our day and leave us a sweet comment! <3
I'd like to start with this bit of information - this session only took us fifteen minutes. Yes, you read that right! It's amazing what you can capture when everyone lets go and lets kids be kids! It's something I'm trying to explain to parents and implement more into my family and kiddo sessions. Some of these images are the result of playing peek-a-boo or the Baby Shark song (sorry if that's stick in your head the rest of the day now) - simple and fun ideas such as those are gold! I love how Maelee's sweet little personality shines through each image. She was a gem to photograph!
I've been itching to do a greenhouse session for a while now and I'm glad I went for it! Maelee's mom is an acquaintance through my sister and other friends and when I saw how adorable and photogenic Maelee was, I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to reach out to her mom. I'm so thankful that everything worked out and that we had a successful and memorable session in such a pretty and unique location! If you've visited this venue before, you probably know where our fun had taken place. If not, let me introduce you to Klein's Floral & Greenhouse. The staff was so wonderful and informative to work with while setting this up! I hope to do more sessions in this kind, lovely and WARM venue in the future. If you're interested in a greenhouse session, please contact Ammie Jean Photography. I'd love to chat with you! What TROOPERS!
This session's weather was not ideal but that didn't stop these lovebirds! They snuggled right up, we worked quickly and got some super sweet photos! I must add that I hardly had to pose these two - Greg and Jeanne are naturals!! Capturing an older couple like this makes my heart so full. This session was a rescheduled Sweetheart Mini so all these images were captured within 5-10 minutes. It's satisfying to know that I can work my magic in undesirable weather and in a short amount of time. Bonus - I was able to provide some extra edited images for this couple and that always makes me happy! If you're worried about booking an early spring session, don't stress! They can be just as beautiful any other season. Contact me to chat about your early spring session. I've come to the conclusion that Class of 2019 is pretty amazing! I was so lucky to work with multiple out going, kind, humble and amazing students this past summer. They set the bar high for any of my future senior sessions! ;) Featured below is Ximena, a super sweet and easy to work with gal. One of the things I like best about working with seniors, or any client, is making them feel awesome about themselves. I could tell I had that effect on Ximena during her session. It makes my hearts smile when I share a back the camera image with my client and they get so excited. It makes me even happier when they show so much appreciation of my work and rave about it! All of the excitement and happiness is rewarding!
There is no possible way to contain the abundance of cuteness that is Derek. Proud to day that this handsome baby boy is my cousins' baby boy and we're so happy to have him in the family! I loved this session for many reasons. One being that I was able to snuggle this cutie and another that I could let my creativity take over! My cousin had brought a few items from home (that she had mentioned prior to D's session) and I had planned on incorporating them into his portraits. They were fantastic inspiration! I absolutely admire sentimental items and enjoy working them into photos! The tractors, stuffed cow/elephant, crocheted pumpkin hat and hungry caterpillar sac/hat were all items that were brought from home. The crochet items were a gift to Derek so we really wanted to use those precious pieces!
We were so blessed with a very content and sleepy baby along with a very sweet and smiley big sister! We had not planned on sibling shots but when you have a happy toddler that coordinates with your set up and super sleepy newborn, how can you pass up the opportunity? Simply put - you don't! Scroll though to check out my favorites from Derek's gallery and feel free to leave a comment as well! Enjoy! These images make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...I'm obsessed with them! It always makes me giddy when when I have the chance to work with a good friend and their family. Catching up, goofing around and enjoying the time spent together does not feel like work at all to me. Ji and her husband, Aaron, decided to sign up for my very last minute pop-up Holiday Mini. I'm glad they did because, due to my slack, their family happened to be my only session! Lucky for the Stelzl family though as I was able to spend a few extra minutes with them and, on top of that, I could not limit my editing so they received lots of extras! If I have extras, I always share some!!
Scroll through their delightful images and feel free to leave a happy comment as well! Enjoy! |
