It's always an honor to be chosen to photograph families - especially the start of families. These two welcomed their first child and sweet baby girl into the world the beginning of February. To say this family was thrilled for her arrival is an understatement! Avery is the first grandchild and niece for the family and everyone was so ready to hold and spoil her. I love being a tiny part of the excitement. Avery was a doll to photograph and her parents were pleased to see that she slept well. I've found that prepping yourself and your baby (thanks to my newborn prep guide) makes a HUGE difference! We were able to sneak in family portraits, a few different prop poses and blanket posing as well. She even graced us with some beautiful open eyed images too! Every baby is so different and I love being able to work with so many. If you enjoyed this post, show us some love in the comments below!

Meet sweet, little Alanna. At just ten days old, Alanna was a dream to work with. Her mama scheduled a Simple Newborn Session which takes place within an hour's time regardless if the baby sleep or awake. However, prepping your baby for their session makes a difference and all the prep paid off with this beauty. Alanna slept like an angel and we were able to do three quick set ups with her. Bonus - I was also able to catch some adorable smirks too. They are my absolute favorite!
Enjoy! There is no possible way to contain the abundance of cuteness that is Derek. Proud to day that this handsome baby boy is my cousins' baby boy and we're so happy to have him in the family! I loved this session for many reasons. One being that I was able to snuggle this cutie and another that I could let my creativity take over! My cousin had brought a few items from home (that she had mentioned prior to D's session) and I had planned on incorporating them into his portraits. They were fantastic inspiration! I absolutely admire sentimental items and enjoy working them into photos! The tractors, stuffed cow/elephant, crocheted pumpkin hat and hungry caterpillar sac/hat were all items that were brought from home. The crochet items were a gift to Derek so we really wanted to use those precious pieces!
We were so blessed with a very content and sleepy baby along with a very sweet and smiley big sister! We had not planned on sibling shots but when you have a happy toddler that coordinates with your set up and super sleepy newborn, how can you pass up the opportunity? Simply put - you don't! Scroll though to check out my favorites from Derek's gallery and feel free to leave a comment as well! Enjoy! Precious little Taylor was a dream to work with! At sixteen days old, she was still super sleepy. In fact, she was one of my sleepiest newborns to date! This gave me the opportunity to move her around a lot and also to do several set-ups, giving her gallery a beautiful variety of color and photos. I hope her family loves these darling images as much as I do! Share the love and leave a sweet comment below!
I'm so excited to share this beautiful in-home lifestyle session with you! Lifestyle sessions have become some of my favorites as they are always fun and laid back. The goal for this lifestyle was to capture sweet Salomea's newborn portraits with a mix of life within her first few days. Mom (Jess), Dad (Pat) and fur sister (Olive) were so gracious when welcoming me into their lovely home. This session was taken during the morning hours using only natural light. Due to the nature of this session, I was able to capture multiple looks, photos, moments and poses resulting in an abundance of edits. Every newborn session varies as all babies are different and wonderful in their unique ways. We kicked things off with some snuggle and artsy images on Mom and Dad's bed. Incorporated was a quilt made with love by Pat's mother. If you know me at all, you know that I'm sentimental and adding special pieces like this into any session is always a yes in my books! After capturing some darling photos in Jess and Pat's bedroom we moved onto Sal's bedroom. Her room was decorated simply and sweetly with the perfect girly touch. I was sure to catch the dainty details between crib portraits and a quick diaper change. Sal's room had just the right amount of natural light, especially by her corner windows where we took mom and dad's individuals with their beautiful bundle. Following bedroom captures, we headed downstairs and just in time for Sal's next feeding! This gave me the opportunity to take some snaps of natural interactions between the three of them. When Sal's belly was full we moved onto some photos with big sister, Olive. This fur sister seemed pretty proud of her new role in life! The next portion of this lifestyle session was switched up just a tad. I decided to try and incorporate a few prop photos since we had a very sleepy and full baby! I brought a few things with me, used their dining room floor as a backdrop and sliding doors as my light source. I was overly happy with how her close ups turned out! There are even a few smiles mixed in!! :) I kept things neutral while playing into the fact that Sal was a winter baby being born Christmas Eve. I added my fluffy vintage bonnet and handmade snowflake headband in and they made perfect headpieces! The rest of the session consisted of more family photos on the couch, this time including Olive, and few quick portraits on Sal's airplane blanket which was also made by Pat's mother. Pat is a pilot so incorporating this airplane blanket was another must as I also like to include family occupations or hobbies into sessions when I can. I hope you enjoy the following images as much as I do! Don't worry! Mom and dad spotted every image that was taken with Olive. Olive is a very well mannered and calm dog at her older age, but you can never be too careful when it comes to a newborn's safety. If you thought this lifestyle session was beautiful, leave me a note in the blog comments! <3

I am so proud of this gallery. I truly have a passion for newborn photography so I'm excited to see some growth with my skills. Ryder was an absolute dream to work and so were his parents! Mom and dad (Kensey and Ryan) went to the same high school I attended so I've known them for awhile through mutual friends. I feel so special when my hometown friends reach out to me to be their family photographer. It's always an honor and I love catching up with them at the same time.
Ryder's session took place in the morning in my home. I set up a make-shift studio in my kitchen as that is where I get the best light in my home and mornings are always the best time. My space looks organized when my clients arrive and like a tornado went through when they leave but no one has ever seemed to mind! My creative mind just takes over! I've been blessed with so many supportive and understanding clients and Kensey and Ryan weren't short of those qualities at all! Kensey and Ryan were both so laid back to work with and the relaxed energy radiated through Ryder. We were able to multiple set-ups including family portraits. Kensey came with Pinterest inspired ideas in mind and I'm pleased that I was able to bring those to life with my own twist on them. I was excited to incorporate family hobbies into Ryder's images, especially Ryan's deer antlers! I hope they enjoy this beautiful gallery for many years to come! <3 Welcome to world, Ryder! What a loved and lucky little man you are. Meet Hank, my sweet baby cousin. Hank was welcomed into the world on May 2nd. He was baby number two from our family to be born that day. Hank came in second place after his cousin, Amelia! Crazier thing was, I had three cousins that came that week - two from my mom's side and one from my dad's. My heart and family grew three times bigger and I couldn't have been more excited. I had the honor of capturing newborn photos for two of the newbies, one being Hank. Hank and his Mama joined me in my in-home studio when he was five days fresh. He was super sleepy, just the way I like'em, and so snugly! Plus he had that amazing newborn aroma that I love! Hank was such an easy going little guy, he loved to be swaddled and didn't mind some tummy time too. Just a perfect little man - not that I'm biased! ;) Daddy is an avid hunter. So, naturally, some antlers had to be included in Hank's photos!
Where do I begin with this post? I have so many emotions and things I want to say when I look at these photos but I will keep it short and sweet.
On a personal level I feel so much love and happiness when I look at these images. On a professional level I feel so much my pride and see so much improvement. I'm also reminded of how things can come full circle. I've been friends with Audrey's mom for over ten years and she has been like a little sister to me at times. Capturing her baby girl's newborn photos was a true honor as I have been there for so may milestones for my dear friend. Her and husband are one of the most admirable couples I know and my heart is full because I know Audrey has made them whole. This beautiful, little girl is a true blessing. I was very photo happy when posting this blog, but can you blame me? So many sweet images that I wanted to share. Thank you to my sister and Audrey's parents for assisting me throughout her session. Your help made it that much more fun and successful! Vintage Santa box, sleigh and crib are rentals from Simply Glamorous Designs. ----> sgdrentalsatof.weebly.com |
