Our sweet and spunky little Isla turned ONE on April 18th! We celebrated the day with treats, gifts, extra snuggles...AND a one year cake smash, of course! What kind of photog mom would I be if I didn't? Dog/human friendly cake was made by yours truly via a recipe I found online. It was tasty and Isla enjoyed it in moderation. The number one on top of her cake was also used in her last sister's tenth birthday taco smash session and we thought that was pretty special and nostalgic. I may sound like a broken record, but I always try to incorporate sentimental pieces into any of my sessions and highly encourage my clients to do the same. Therefore, I also included my Grandma Nonn's hanker-chief from her childhood as April 18th is also her birthday! That's where Isla's middle name (Alice) comes from. Two very special ladies! Another interesting fact about Isla's name is that it is pronounced as "Ees-lah" or as we personally pronounce it, "Iss-lah." It means island in Spanish and we say she is our little bit of paradise. We also call her Izzie for fun (she responds to either name) and most others do so as well. Her nickname ends in an "ie" the same way my name does - I just had to make it difficult. ;) A lot of thought was put into her name so the pronunciation of it is very intentional. One more first birthday shout out to our ONE-derful little Izzie. She has added so much love and happiness to our hearts and home. Life is so much better with her in it and for that we are grateful. Feeling truly blessed she is ours. Enjoy! [This was my first time constructing a balloon garland and it was not the easiest until I got the hang of it. Thank goodness it turned out pretty good! These will be available to add onto any indoor milestone session at an additional cost. Contact AJP for details.] Our little W1LD ONE. <3 If you enjoyed these photos, make our day and leave us a sweet comment! <3

I'd like to start with this bit of information - this session only took us fifteen minutes. Yes, you read that right! It's amazing what you can capture when everyone lets go and lets kids be kids! It's something I'm trying to explain to parents and implement more into my family and kiddo sessions. Some of these images are the result of playing peek-a-boo or the Baby Shark song (sorry if that's stick in your head the rest of the day now) - simple and fun ideas such as those are gold! I love how Maelee's sweet little personality shines through each image. She was a gem to photograph!
I've been itching to do a greenhouse session for a while now and I'm glad I went for it! Maelee's mom is an acquaintance through my sister and other friends and when I saw how adorable and photogenic Maelee was, I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to reach out to her mom. I'm so thankful that everything worked out and that we had a successful and memorable session in such a pretty and unique location! If you've visited this venue before, you probably know where our fun had taken place. If not, let me introduce you to Klein's Floral & Greenhouse. The staff was so wonderful and informative to work with while setting this up! I hope to do more sessions in this kind, lovely and WARM venue in the future. If you're interested in a greenhouse session, please contact Ammie Jean Photography. I'd love to chat with you! There is no possible way to contain the abundance of cuteness that is Derek. Proud to day that this handsome baby boy is my cousins' baby boy and we're so happy to have him in the family! I loved this session for many reasons. One being that I was able to snuggle this cutie and another that I could let my creativity take over! My cousin had brought a few items from home (that she had mentioned prior to D's session) and I had planned on incorporating them into his portraits. They were fantastic inspiration! I absolutely admire sentimental items and enjoy working them into photos! The tractors, stuffed cow/elephant, crocheted pumpkin hat and hungry caterpillar sac/hat were all items that were brought from home. The crochet items were a gift to Derek so we really wanted to use those precious pieces!
We were so blessed with a very content and sleepy baby along with a very sweet and smiley big sister! We had not planned on sibling shots but when you have a happy toddler that coordinates with your set up and super sleepy newborn, how can you pass up the opportunity? Simply put - you don't! Scroll though to check out my favorites from Derek's gallery and feel free to leave a comment as well! Enjoy! Crazy how fast the year went - around this time last year I was photographing Logan's newborn portraits. FAST FORWARD! Here are the images I captured of his first taste of CAKE! He loved it and it was so much fun to document! Just before his solo cake smash session, we did some quick family shots in my backyard...so this cake was really a sweet treat! I also have to mention that his mom made the cake!! It turned out perfect and coordinated with the banner I made wonderfully.
Scroll through and don't forget to leave a sweet comment, too! Enjoy! Precious little Taylor was a dream to work with! At sixteen days old, she was still super sleepy. In fact, she was one of my sleepiest newborns to date! This gave me the opportunity to move her around a lot and also to do several set-ups, giving her gallery a beautiful variety of color and photos. I hope her family loves these darling images as much as I do! Share the love and leave a sweet comment below!
This family is so amazing! I've known them since Brielle was a baby and I've been photographing the Goodchilds since her one year portraits. Wow, has this family and my business grown! I think it's pretty special we've been able to share several milestones together and watch one another branch out over the years. Not only is this family super sweet, but they are truly fashionable as well. I love when my families show up to session dressed as if they stepped out of a magazine! The sunshine, green grass, vibrant colors and this good lookin' gang made for some stunning family portraits. I'm excited to share this mix of relaxed poses and lifestyle shots with you! Like what you see? Leave some kind words in the comment section below! <3 All because two people fell in love! Session Date: Mid May | Session Time: Evening | Location: DeForest, WI
I can't believe Hank is one already! Were did the last year go? It has been awesome to watch him grow and change so much over the last 12 months! I'm so lucky this ham is my cousin and that I have the amazing advantage to not only watch him grow so closely, but also capture his big milestones! I'm so honored to share such happy memories with my family through my photography.
Hank's session was taken on a warm spring evening. I could not have asked for better light. I love how warm and back lit these images are! Hank sported an adorable plaid top for the first half of his session and a plain white onesie and bare toes for his second half. I can't decide which look I like more! If you love theses images as much as I do, leave them some love in the comments below! <3 {Antique legless chair from Rentals at Simply Glamorous Designs.} Happy six months to this little cutie! Taelyn was all full of smiles, silly faces, giggles and even a few adorable mean mugs! I love all of her captured expressions.
This session took place in my in-home studio set up just before Easter. We included some classic images along with a festive set up as well. Taelyn sported her pretty Easter dress along with her older sister's (Teiler) shoes and headband that she also wore for one of her first year sessions. I love sentimental touches! Working with this family is always fun and I can't wait to continue capturing their future milestones! If you enjoyed this blog, leave me some love in the comments section! <3 I was so thrilled to work with this little cutie! Johannah started out shy (notice the few adorable grump faces mixed throughout) but warmed up fairly quickly with mom's help! These images make me giggle just looking at them. I love all the captured emotions from giggles, to smiles and mean mugs. In my opinion, a mix like this is amazing and I wouldn't change a thing! I love to embrace any moment and expression. Shortly into her session, sweet Johannah decided she needed to sneak in a snack and I was all for it if it meant some comfort for her. Aside from producing stunning images, my other goal is to calm any anxious hearts during my sessions the best that I can. Even with the occasional animal cracker in view, these are precious regardless! Mom also packed some of Johannah's favorite toys so those also made their debut, of course! This sitter session was done in my little provisional studio area within my home during the morning and it was only 30 minutes! Just the right amount of time for most kiddos when it comes to individual portraits. Johannah was sportin' a delightful floral top complete with cute booties and light gray leggings. I'm a sucker for that light and airy feel and I believe that was accomplished with the coordinating props and off white backdrop. Working with Johannah and her mom was blast and I hope to do so again! :) If you thought this session was "two" cute, leave me little message in the comment section below! <3
I had the pleasure of working with Ryder and his awesome parents again to capture his 3 month portraits. What a splendid way to kick off 2018! We bundled up and started with some quick family photos outside, literally less than 2 minutes outside, followed by some lifestyle shots on my couch. Outdoor family shots are possible in January. After all, we are Wisconsin tough! The next portion of Ryder's session was all about him! Mom and dad wanted to incorporate the bowl we used for his newborn photos and I thought using Dad's antlers again would be neat too! What a creative way to show how much Ryder has grown since his newborn portraits. We also used our creativity and played with Ryder's layers of clothing to mix things up and create different looks within an hours time. I absolutely love how these sweet images turned out and I can't wait to work with this trio again! Enjoy! Be a "deer" and share a sweet love note in the comment section! They always make me smile! :D
